TO HIS MAJESTY SHAH OF IRAN
MOHAMMED REZA PAHLAVI
Thank you for the letter.
You can have no doubt that the Soviet Union is ready to respond to friendship from Iran with the same friendship.
I can guarantee that the friendly relations between Iran and the Soviet Union will be henceforth strengthened if no more elements hostile to the Soviet Union like Hakimi and his like appear at the helm of state. If this interests you I can inform you that, in the opinion of the Soviet Government, the position of the current Government of Iran with respect to the Soviet Union to a large extent contributes to our relations getting on a correct path to the advantage of both countries.
I wish you success and happiness.

Stalin thanks the Shah of Iran, Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, for his note and assures him that the Soviet Union desires friendly relations with Iran as long as the Iranian government remains friendly to the Soviet Union. He also stresses his support for the Qavam government.
