Reports that the Belgian Embassy Counsel received the North Korean Counsel in his home, where the latter noted the establishment of a North Korean information bureau in France and a trade bureau in Finland, and proposed a formal or informal visit to Brussels. The Belgian reply was noncommittal; the North Korean also announced his intention to visit the Dutch Embassy.
September 12, 1969
Representatives from the companies CKH, VMF and Grenko visited the Ministry to plead for the establishment of a North Korean trade office. The Ministry remained of the opinion, also informed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, that economic and political relations with South Korea would be unacceptably damaged by such rapprochement with North Korea.
July 4, 1969
Verkade reports that the South Korean deputy vice-minister of foreign affairs Whang summoned him to inform him that the three recent North Korean visitors to the Netherlands had supplied false information on their visa papers yet were admitted. Whang expressed his concern, given their apparent intent to establish official contact with the Netherlands; Verkade reassured him there was no change in Dutch policy.

The Jhr. Vegelin van Claerbergen proposes to the chief of the department to loosen the reins in relations with North Korea, both for reasons of commerce and of politics, namely engaging North Korea to allow it to become less dependent on China.
January 10, 1969
Reports on a request from Dutch shipbuilding company Verolme N.V. to reconsider the Dutch standpoint regarding the establishment of a (semi-)permanent North Korean representation in the Netherlands to further commercial contacts. Verolme was told there is no reason to reconsider, also given that it was currently able to procure large orders already - two ships were to be delivered to North Korea in September. The American Embassy was confidentially informed of this.

The Ministry informs the Ambassador in Moscow that elsewhere North Korean representatives have made similar overtures, none of which have been responded to in a positive manner.
December 3, 1968
The Dutch Ambassador reports on North Korean overtures such as sending propaganda and an invitation to a cocktail-laced viewing of a movie about the USS Pueblo (which was ignored). Having inquired with other NATO countries' representatives it turned out that only the Luxemburg representative received the same literature while only the Norwegian representative was invited to the cocktail party.
