May 1968	Memo to V. V. Kuznetsov Regarding Proposed Clarifications to the NPT This memo to Vasily Kuznetsov, First Deputy Foreign Minister of the USSR, includes proposed amendments and clarifications to various articles and sections of the NPT. Topics of the proposed amendments include an emphasis on the continued importance of sovereignty and territorial integrity and the exchange of research and technology on peaceful uses of nuclear technology. The document also describes how to proceed in negotiations with the American side, as well as with several Warsaw Pact countries, and to telegraph once the requests in the memo have been delivered.
May 1968	CPSU CC Decree, 'On Introducing Several Revisions to the NPT Draft' This decree tasks the Soviet MFA with obtaining an agreement from fellow members of the Warsaw Pact on the USSR's suggested revisions to the NPT.
March 22, 1968	Andrei Gromyko, Note to the CPSU CC Andrei Gromyko describes the diplomatic measures he deems necessary to ensure the adherence of influential nations and countries in the Socialist sphere to the NPT. Valuing negotiation and diplomatic conversations between representatives, Gromyko especially seeks to obtain the support of countries who have previously expressed reservations about the treaty.
March 1968	Instructions to Soviet Ambassadors in Socialist States Talking points for Soviet ambassadors to Socialist states to use in conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs. The ambassadors are told to relay the message that adherence to the NPT is beneficial for all Socialist nations and their allies.
April 26, 1966	Extract from Decisions of the Politburo of the CPSU CC of 23 April-4 May 1966, 'Point 21. On Steps in connection with the Proposal to Create a "Detection Club" with the Goals of Solving the Problem of Banning Underground Tests of Nuclear Weapons' USSR sending regards to the Polish ambassador about Poland joining the international "detection club" for underground nuclear tests.
April 22, 1989	A. Sukharev et al to the CPSU Central Committee, 'On the Question of Katyn' A group of Soviet officials propose that the KGB, among other institutions, investigate the circumstances and locations of the deaths of Polish officers interned in the Soviet Union during World War II.
April 26, 1988	Eh. Shevardnadze et al to the CPSU CC, 'Measures to Build the Site of the Burial of Polish officers in Katyn (Smolensk Oblast’) and the Expansion of the Access to it of the Citizens of the PNR and of Other Countries' Shevardnadze and other Soviet officials propose to create a memorial to Polish officers murdered during the Katyn massacre as well as "Soviet POWs who took part in the exhumation work," and to allow Polish citizens to visit the memorial in Smolensk Oblast’.
August 28, 1980	Note, M. Suslov et al to the CPSU Central Committee Suslov describes the "tense" situation in Poland and proposed steps to use military and police force to quell the protest movement.
1976	The Katyn Affair (A Brief Memo) A Soviet record, probably dated from 1976, that offers an official CPSU stance on the Katyn massacre. The memo also describes various post-war "provocations" by the United States and other Western nations to bring attention to the Katyn massacre and inflame Soviet-Polish relations.
April 5, 1976	Excerpt from Minutes Nº 3 of the CPSU CC Politburo Meeting of 5 April 1976, 'Measures to Counteract Western Propaganda about the so-called “Katyn Affair”' The CPSU Central Committee issues five directives to combat the "anti-Soviet" campaign concerning the Katyn massacre.
