They also discuss the Soviet strategy in response to these events.
May 31, 1977	Embassy of the GDR in the USSR, Political Department, 'Note about a Meeting with Comrade Kireyev, Deputy Head of the 1st Far Eastern Department of the MID on 24 May 1977' A description of Chinese domestic policy, specifically the continuation of Maoism, differences in policy held by political leaders (Hua Guofeng and Ye Jianying), and the campaign against the Gang of Four. China's foreign policy, specifically towards the Soviet Union, USA, Japan, and India is also discussed.
January 17, 1977	Erich Honecker to the Politburo Members of the SED, 'Information about the Situation in China and the Policy of the New Leadership of the PRC' This document discusses the shift in political leadership and the instability of the government in the wake of Mao Zedong's death. It also reports on China's economic situation and the beginnings of efforts to modernize the country, as well as foreign relations, especially with the Soviet Union.

December 31, 1969	Letter, A. Grechko to the CPSU CC A. Grechko conveys the Ministry of Defense's views on negotiations between the Soviet Union and China.
December 16, 1969	Letter, Y. Andropov to the CPSU CC Andropov reports that Chinese diplomats stationed in the USSR are actively trying to discredit the Soviet Union, particularly in regard to the border dispute.
August 14, 1969	From the Journal of S.I. Divil'kovsky, 'Record of a Conversation with Tran Hmu Dyk [sic], VWP CC member and Minister of the Office of the Prime Minister, 1 August 1969' S. I. Divil'kovsky, the Counsellor of the Soviet Embassy in the DRV, records a conversation with Tran Hum Dyk. The parties discussed the ongoing Vietnam war, strained relations between the DRV and China, and the Soviet Union's gifts of aid to the DRV.

May 19, 1969	Cable from the Soviet Embassy in the DRV, 'Responses in the DRV to the work and results of the “9th CPC Congress”' An analysis from the Soviet Embassy in the DRV of the response in the Democratic Republic of Vietnman to the 9th Chinese Communist Party Congress. The DRV is reported to be dissatisfied with the lack of attention and indifference the CPC Congress paid to Vietnam.
