Kim Yong-nam explains the three principles for reunification, which were established at the North-South Joint Communique on the 4th of July in 1972, and blames South Korea in part for not following the spirit of the agreement.

Kim also discusses the meeting between Yoon Ki-bok and Lee Hu-rak and how North and South Korea are interested in establishing a coordinating committee.

Novikov and Kim Il Sung discuss the DPRK’s trade and economy, emphasizing the increasing cooperation among the socialist countries through the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (Comecon). In addition, Kim Il Sung mentions that the North has secret contacts in South Korea in order to gain a better understanding of the internal situation in Seoul.

The statement describes the conference which took place in Pyongyang from June 29 to July 5. The main goal of the conference was to discuss the separate elections held in South Korea and possibilities for the unification of Korea. The North Korean representatives considered the National Assembly formed in South Korea to be illegitimate and urged for the expulsion of foreign powers in order to achieve a unified Korea.

Aleksandr Kapto reflects on the Soviet Union's normalization of relations with South Korea, and the consequential fallout in relations between North Korea and the USSR. According to Kapto, North Korea threatened to develop nuclear weapons and withdraw from the NPT as a result of Soviet-South Korean rapprochement.

Ivanov meets with Chinese Ambassador Pan Zili. Pan reports that Sweden and Switzerland are working to reorganize the Neutral Nations Korean Armistice Supervisory Commission.

Kim Il expresses gratitude on the statement of Soviet Union on the issue of the peaceful reunification of Korea. Kim Chang-man mentions the DPRK VNS proposals which stress the peaceful reunification of Korea sweeps through the South Korea. He also reports that the South Korea currently suffer a serious electricity shortage. Ri Gyo-sun says there will be a massive propaganda on DPRK VNS proposals planned to Japan.

Kim Il Sung mentions a bilateral cooperative treaty between Soviet Union and DPRK and the progress of the talks in Japan extending the agreement on repatriation of Koreans to the DPRK. A.M. Puzanov informs his impressions on the visit to the Hwanghae metallurgical works.
